January Moodboard
As we reach the half way point of arguably dreariest month of the year, seeking comfort and joy in the small things is more important than ever. With fewer distractions and a slower tempo, we can recharge our batteries and fully enjoy the pleasures of cooking hearty, nourishing meals, catch up with friends over a coffee or glass of wine, and sit down and reflect on what this new year might bring our way. When we eventually have to venture outside, it will be bundled up in soft jumpers and big fluffy coats whilst daydreaming about the warmth of the sun.
Here are some of the things that have caught my eye recently; the comforting chicken tarragon and leek pie served as a main at PR guru Daisy Hoppen’s wedding cooked by chef Margot Henderson, NY-based cook Laila Gohar’s hosting tips - especially a side table with ice cold champagne and frozen grapes, wearing an all white outfit in winter - ideal white jeans or loose trousers paired with a chunky knit, the simplicity of the custom typeface created for Céline, Audrey Hepburn, the most delicious looking pear and blue cheese ravioli by Le Supper Club, the yolk yellow shower curtains at L’hotel Locarno in Rome, the late Queen having a cup of tea in the Scottish highlands, daydreaming of a morning spent reading in bed in a cosy room with patterned wallpaper, a photograph from Swan Lake at NYC ballet taken in the 1950s, the incredible villa of the late artist Enrico Baj in northern Italy (see and read more here), a Borzoi (dream) dog, painting of flowers by Cedric Morris, anything designed by Elsa Peretti, frilly collar at Christian Dior couture for Spring 2019, and finally crisp white wine and oysters because why not?
